Atlatl Software Director Zac Cooper Discusses Eliminating Waste from the Manufacturing Process

February 02 02:00 2019

Zac Copper, Director of Sales at Atlatl Software, recently authored an article discussing how to eliminate waste from the start of the manufacturing process. Cooper looks at one way to ensure the bidding process includes all stakeholders so that a company can manufacture what the customer wants, guarantee that the customer gets what they asked for, and that everyone is satisfied with the outcome. The article can be read in Quality Digest. To read more, go to: http://bit.ly/2CReMTk

During the current state of bidding and proposal submissions, procedures such as requests for quotes do not offer a modern buying experience for customers. In many companies the current bidding process creates bottlenecks in manufacturing because there is no integration between the sales and engineering functions. In a successful bidding process, all parties are involved to go over each part of the process. The sales team discusses what the customer requested, engineering discusses what is actually able to be manufactured, and operations discusses the availability of the floor and machines.

According to Cooper, one way to accomplish this is to use a visual configure-price-quote (CPQ) solution. A bidding process with a CPQ solution provides sales teams a platform to easily quote configurable products. The CPQ solution essentially walks the salesperson through a step-guided procedure to ensure the product the customer is requesting is actually manufacturable. It also provides the sales team with visibility into exactly what is being quoted, how many times each product is being quoted, and how many quotes are being won or lost.

Quality Digest magazine presents all facets of quality, including metrology, Six Sigma, lean, inspection, testing, SPC, software, and international standards. Quality Digest offers more editorial coverage of these standards than any other quality magazine or web site.
